Doug is on his own for the last stretch. Yesterday, Jeff rode to his home in New York state, Don, Joe and Andrew headed towards New Hampshire and Portland, ME. Doug is continuing to follow the Northern Tier Route to Bar Harbor, ME. Today he rode 115 miles, in the heat, to Old Forge, NY. He is staying at the camp of the Smiths. Allegra is a college friend to Colleen. She and her dad, George are kindly taking care of him for a much needed rest day. He hasn't had a rest day since they left home July 20.
He said he met several other riders on the road today...they hadn't seen any others for a couple of weeks. The other riders couldn't believe how light Doug was traveling. He was able to fit every thing in two rear panniers.
